Job title: Non-Teaching Assistant Head of Year

Salary: WPT Band 6 £27,852 - £30,151 (£24531 - £26556 pro rata)

Hours: 37 per week, term time including 5 additional days

Contract type: Permanent

Location: Thrybergh Academy

As a key member of our pastoral team, you'll work closely with the Head of Year to implement comprehensive interventions and support systems, ensuring every student receives the guidance and assistance they need to thrive. Your dedication and expertise will contribute to the creation of a nurturing school culture where all students feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting the Head of Year in planning, monitoring, assessing, and delivering targeted interventions for students within a designated group, continuously evaluating and refining strategies to ensure maximum effectiveness.

  • Monitoring and recording students' responses, learning achievements, and progress against targets, meticulously preparing paperwork for student reviews and providing detailed evaluations to inform future planning.

  • Supporting identified students in need of specialised mentoring, delivering mentoring sessions where appropriate or facilitating alternative mentoring opportunities to address individual needs effectively.

  • Coordinating home/school links on various issues such as attitudes to learning and individual progress, fostering a strong sense of culture and learning purpose within the Academy community.

  • Assisting teaching staff in managing behaviour issues and implementing intervention strategies for both pastoral and academic progress, collaborating closely with the Head of Year to ensure a cohesive approach.

  • Proactively monitoring the behaviour of all students, analysing subgroup patterns, and providing feedback to the Head of Year as necessary to inform strategic decision-making.

  • Supporting the identification of students at risk of Alternative Provision, ensuring all available support options, both internal and external, are explored before transition, and facilitating successful student transitions back into mainstream school where appropriate.

  • Contributing to the development and implementation of Pastoral Support Plans, collaborating with the SENDCo to gather information for Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans and Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) access assessments.
