Join Our Team as an Attendance Officer 2!
Are you passionate about making a real difference in young people’s lives? Do you have an eye for detail, a proactive attitude, and a talent for building positive relationships? If so, we’d love to hear from you!
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Attendance Officer 2 to join our committed team. You will play a vital role in promoting excellent attendance and punctuality across the school — ensuring every student has the best possible opportunity to succeed.
As our Attendance Officer, you will be at the heart of our efforts to raise achievement through improved attendance. You’ll monitor and analyse daily attendance data, identify patterns of absence, and take swift, supportive action where needed.
You will work closely with students, parents, and staff to understand barriers to attendance, provide practical support, and encourage positive engagement with school. From first-line investigations and parent meetings to liaising with external agencies, you’ll help ensure that every child feels supported, safe, and ready to learn.
Responsibilities Include
- Monitor student attendance daily, identifying and investigating unexplained absences.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians through calls, letters, and meetings.
- Conduct initial investigations into persistent or unauthorised absences and provide early intervention.
- Collaborate with pastoral and safeguarding teams to implement targeted support strategies.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records on the school’s MIS and relevant databases.
- Work alongside external agencies such as Educational Welfare Officers and social services where necessary.
- Organise and attend attendance meetings, panels, and reviews, ensuring detailed records are kept.
- Advise staff, students, and families on attendance policies and statutory responsibilities.
- Promote a positive attendance culture through campaigns and recognition initiatives.
- Support the development and ongoing review of the school’s attendance policy and procedures.
- Provide high-quality administrative support for all attendance-related activities.
- Contribute to safeguarding by monitoring attendance as a key indicator of student welfare.
