Job title: Non Teaching SENDCO

Salary: WPT Band 7 £33945 - £37336 (£29897 - £32884 pro-rata)

Hours: 37 hours per week, term time plus inset days

Contract: Permanent

Location: Wickersley School and Sports College

To commence: As soon as possible

Wickersley School and Sports College is looking for a dedicated and experienced Non-Teaching SENDCo to support our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring that our students with additional needs receive the support they need to thrive.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the SENDCo to lead the SEND provision, collaborating with the Headteacher to ensure students receive the highest standard of support.

  • Manage SEND resources, ensuring they are used efficiently, effectively, and safely to maximise impact.

  • Liaise with external agencies to meet the specific needs of individual pupils, maintaining detailed and accurate records of all meetings and interventions.

  • Ensure that the SEN Register is up-to-date and that staff are informed about each student’s special educational needs.

  • Assist in the day-to-day management of the Learning Support area, creating a safe, stimulating environment for students.

  • Develop and review SEN Support Plans in collaboration with parents, leading meetings and ensuring effective interventions for individual students and small groups.

  • Support the SENDCo in shaping and implementing the strategic vision for SEND provision, fostering a team ethos and promoting staff morale.

  • Oversee appraisal processes within the SEND team and contribute to the recruitment of new SEND staff.

  • Act as a keyworker for students with the most complex needs, providing tailored one-to-one and small group interventions.

  • Ensure that the school remains compliant with all relevant SEND legislation, including the Equalities Act 2010 and the SEND Code of Practice 2015.

  • Manage transition arrangements, ensuring smooth progression for SEND students from primary to secondary school.

  • Engage in continuous professional development (CPD), proactively identifying areas for improvement in your own practice.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Significant experience in supporting students with SEND, with a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage resources and staff effectively.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with external agencies, staff, students, and parents to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.

  • A proactive attitude towards personal and professional development.

  • Experience in managing a team and fostering a positive, collaborative work environment.
