Are you passionate about literacy and committed to helping students find their voice? We are seeking a dedicated Learning Mentor to specialise in English support, working with targeted students to overcome barriers to learning and ensuring they achieve their full potential in reading and writing.
About WPT
At Wickersley Partnership Trust (WPT), we are fueled by a single commitment: 'We never knowingly do less for other people’s children than we would for our own.' As a thriving network of schools across South Yorkshire, we combine high expectations with embedded inclusivity. We do not work in silos; instead, we rely on deep collaboration and school-to-school support to ensure every student develops socially, emotionally, and academically to achieve the highest standards.
About the Role
As a Learning Mentor with a focus on English, you will bridge the gap between pastoral care and academic success. You will work closely with the English department to identify students who require additional intervention. This is a dynamic role where you will not only mentor students one-on-one to build confidence but also actively plan, deliver, and mark specific lessons for individuals and small groups. You will be instrumental in helping our students navigate their coursework and improve their literacy skills.
Responsibilities
Targeted Intervention: Plan, deliver, and mark differentiated lessons for individuals and small groups, providing specific support to help students overcome barriers to learning.
Mentoring: Mentor pupils one-on-one to implement individual learning plans and facilitate access to necessary academic resources and external facilities.
Progress Monitoring: Observe and record student achievement, providing feedback to teaching staff to help identify specific needs and refine support strategies.
Family Liaison: Build strong relationships with families to communicate progress and concerns, supporting the Class Teacher with interventions, including home visits.
The successful candidate must hold an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
